Publication Fees

No Fees During the First Year

Problems of Modern Law charges no article processing charges (APCs) and no submission fees during the first year of publication. Authors pay nothing to submit a manuscript, nothing for peer review, nothing on acceptance, and nothing for publication. Readers pay nothing for access. The costs of editorial handling, similarity screening, copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration, indexing, and long-term archiving are borne by the two founding organizations.

What This Covers

  • Submission and editorial handling through the OJS workflow
  • Anti-plagiarism screening of the manuscript
  • Double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers
  • Copyediting, reference verification, and typesetting
  • Registration of a Crossref DOI
  • Metadata deposit with indexing services and OAI-PMH harvesters
  • Deposit into the PKP Preservation Network and Zenodo for long-term archiving

Future Changes

The journal makes the following commitments regarding any future introduction of fees:

  • Advance notice. Any decision to introduce an article processing charge will be announced on this page and communicated to registered authors and reviewers at least three months before it takes effect.
  • No retroactive application. A newly introduced or increased fee will never apply to manuscripts already submitted, under review, accepted, or published. The fee status applicable to a manuscript is the status in force on the date of its submission.
  • Waiver policy. Any future APC will be accompanied by a published waiver policy providing full or partial waivers for authors without institutional or grant funding, for corresponding authors in lower-income countries, and for doctoral candidates. Waiver decisions will be made by the editorial office independently of peer review and will have no bearing on editorial decisions.

No Hidden Charges

The journal does not levy charges for colour figures, supplementary materials, page extents, expedited review, or the issue of publication certificates. The journal does not offer paid fast-track review, and payment can under no circumstances influence an editorial decision. Any communication requesting payment on behalf of the journal outside the terms stated on this page should be reported to info@in-academy.uz.
